Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the governing body of ARCH Hospice and is responsible for exercising governance authority and setting policy direction. The Board is accountable to the Members of the Corporation for the effective governance and implementation of ARCH’s Mission, Vision and Values.
From time to time, positions on the ARCH Hospice Board of Directors become available and are advertised on this website. When vacancies present, any interested member of the public may apply.

Thomas joined the ARCH Board of Directors in June 2019. He brings extensive accounting, risk management, leadership and governance experience to the ARCH Board of Directors.
Mary Ellen Luukkonen
Vice-Chair & Director
Mary Ellen joined the ARCH Board of Directors in June 2019. Mary Ellen brings extensive health care, risk management, and quality leadership to the ARCH Board of Directors. She is passionate about health care and making a positive impact.
Treasurer & Chair of Finance Com
Jeanette joined the ARCH Board of Directors in June 2020. She is a small business owner and a practising professional engineer with previous governance experience in her various executive roles for the Algoma Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario. Jeanette also brings her technical background in health care facility design, construction and operations to the ARCH Board of Directors.
Secretary, Chair of Quality Committee
Heidi is a CPA, CA with 15 years of experience in accounting, audit, and risk management. She has 10+ years of experience in risk management including risk identification, control assessment, risk response and reporting of such information. She has a general knowledge of many different organizational functions and regulations and requirements.
Bonnie joined the ARCH Board of Directors in August 2018. Bonnie is a practicing lawyer and passionate about making a meaningful difference in our community. She brings legal, leadership, and risk management expertise to the ARCH Board of Directors.
Janice joined the ARCH Board of Directors in August 2018. Janice is an executive in post-secondary education, bringing significant experience in human resources leadership. She brings change leadership, human resources, safety and risk management expertise to the ARCH Board of Directors.
Lyne joined the ARCH Board of Directors in June 2019. She brings significant communications, leadership and governance experience to the ARCH Board of Directors. Lyne is proud to serve our community and is a longstanding hospice supporter.
Annette joined the ARCH Board of Directors in June 2020. She brings extensive leadership experience in the not-for-profit charitable sector, mental health and addictions, systems design, community development and governance.
Joanne joined the ARCH Board of Directors in June 2021. She is a local Real Estate professional and has contributed significantly to the local community through her public relations and marketing experience. Joanne is a huge supporter of ARCH and has lived an experience through their care. She proudly brings with her this personal experience along with her community connections, communication and event management skills to contribute to the growth of this important organization.
Ian Joined the ARCH Board of Directors in June of 2021 and is also a member of the Finance Committee. Ian is an Electronics Engineering Technologist having served in the Canadian Armed forces Navy, worked as a civilian in telecommunications in Ottawa before returning to the Sault joining Algoma Steel’s Major Projects and Construction group in 2007. Ian is the United Steel Workers LU 2724 Health and Safety Representative full time currently. Ian also has a farm in the Laird area primarily focused on hay production. Ian was drawn to the Arch Board through several lived experiences over the last few years and wanted to support the ARCH with his efforts.
