Supportive Care
Supportive care plays a vital role at ARCH in ensuring that residents and their loved ones receive compassionate, holistic support throughout the end-of-life process. The hospice recognizes that every individual is much more than their medical condition. Each resident arrives with a unique life story that includes their experiences, relationships, memories, and personal challenges. Many people facing end-of-life care experience a mixture of emotions such as sadness, fear, uncertainty, or confusion, while others may find moments of peace and acceptance. Because of this, ARCH strives to create an environment that promotes peace, comfort, dignity, and calmness for everyone involved.
The supportive care team at ARCH is made up of highly trained and compassionate professionals who focus not only on medical needs but also on the emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being of residents and their families. While physical comfort remains a priority, the hospice believes that emotional and spiritual support are equally important when someone is nearing the end-of-life. By addressing these aspects of care together, the hospice aims to provide a more complete and meaningful experience for residents and their loved ones.
Supportive care services focus on meeting the emotional, spiritual, and social needs of residents and their families. Staff and trained professionals provide emotional support to help individuals cope with feelings of grief, stress, and uncertainty, while offering a safe space to talk and reflect. Spiritual care is also an important part of the program, respecting all faiths, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds and helping residents connect with spiritual or religious leaders if desired. ARCH also supports families in celebrating meaningful milestones, such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or baptisms, allowing them to share important moments together. In addition, the hospice provides grief and bereavement support to help individuals cope with the loss of a loved one. Complementary therapies, including meditation, relaxation techniques, reiki, music, and creative arts, are also offered to promote comfort, reduce stress, and provide meaningful ways for residents and families to express themselves.
Through these supportive care services, ARCH aims to ensure that residents and families feel cared for, respected, and supported in every aspect of the end-of-life experience. By focusing on compassion, dignity, and emotional connection, the hospice helps create a space where families can spend meaningful time together and find comfort during one of life’s most difficult moments.
